hi does anyone know if there's a way of editing mov files in the above sw please?
and if not what rough equivalent sw exists to use as an alternative please

	Sure. I used to do it all the time. You need to have quicktime installed. And your quicktime files have to be in a codec that the software supports. It's a couple of major versions old and may not support newer files. 
 
 If you're having trouble, post a mediainfo report on your file.

	Supported Input Formats (Video): 
 MOV file (H.264+Linear PCM, Canon and Nikon digital SLR camera generated data)
