I have a big collection of movies and telly shows, mainly downloaded but some ripped by myself from dvd too. I store them on external or internal drives on the pc and watch on the telly, hdmi out from graphics card to hdmi in on yamaha home theatre surround amp, then to panasonic tv. Its all fine, however some of the files get the VLC 'fixing avi index' box, meaning I cant forward or jump to another section of the program, soon as I try the playback stops and its back to the start again. What causes this and can the files be fixed so i can jump forward or back?

  2. I think VirtualDub has a feature that will reindex the AVI.

  3. Divfix++ will rebuild the index and create a new file that should seek properly.
