    I want to be able to capture video from my mini DV camera but now Fire wire has been stopped, how can I achieve this please.

    since you don't capture DV, as it's more of a file transfer, the only way is still over firewire. either find an older computer that has it or buy an add in card for a desktop.

    Thank you Aedipuss, I have a capture card for a PC, I used to use Kdenlive and it worked well until the latest version,where they have dropped firewire, the computer I used then is not now working, however, I will try and get it working and insert the firewire card and see if I can get it working again, most frustrating.

    you don't need any software other than the free winDV for miniDV transfers. if you happen to have HDV on tape then use HDVsplit to transfer it.

  6. I prefer Scenalyzer (www.scenalyzer.com) to WinDV, but either should work.
