  1. I have used nero and vcdeasy to burn my movies. For some reason I get an annoying loud squeak/squak, whatever it is called on every movie I burn. The movie plays fine on my computer off the VCD and Encoded mpg created by TMPGenc. What could I try? My stand alone DVD is a Toshiba SD3750. It is VCD compatible. Any suggestions appreciated. I use a HP 9310 to burn the VCD. I am using WinXP with the latest Force ASPI drivers on an AMD 900 with 1gig of ram.

    Thanks

It can be the media you burn... most DVDs works with CD-R, but not with CD-RW... check the DVD Players comparison list in the left of this page...

It also can be the audio bitrate. VCD compliant must be 224Kb/s.

What is the software you use to burn the mpeg file? EasyCD, Nero, etc...

Your burner must use the media speed limit when burning... I does not matter if your burner can burn at 12X if your media (most CD-RW) can only be burned at 4X...

OOPS. I did not read that part...
Well, when converting with TMPGEnc and burning, make sure you have DISABLED stand by or suspend mode in BIOS and power management S.O. because it can give such delays...

  4. I have tried several different types of CDR's. Verbitrim, Samsung, Iomega CDR's, ect.

I leave the bit rate when I convert at the default of 224.

I do burn at 10X. I will try 4x next time.

Power save is off in the bios. But in windows I do have the monitor shut off after 30 minutes. I will disable it next time too. Every thing else is disabled. Only thing with this, the movies play fine on my system. Weird.

    Thanks again.

  5. Update: I disabled both my screen saver and monitor power off and burned my 650 meg movie at 4X.

Results: 90% of the Squeaks were gone. :)
I still have pausing and sto[pping sometimes but I can deal with that later. I did run into another problem though. 57:00 minutes into the movie it it started skipping, yelping, pixelating, and blanking out.

I am getting closer. Maybe thats why people make 2 VCDs of a movie. But Usually because it is too big for one CD. Thanks again. I am that much closer.

I am glad to help you... now you should try other medias, 2X speed, defragment disc before capturing, converting and burning...
