    I have a .wmv file. The size is 4.1 GB, but when I play it on VLC nothing comes up. The duration is showing as 0:00.. I tried converting it to mp4, the file is not recognized. I used several programs to fix the file since I thought it might be corrupted, still unable to play it.

    Please help!

    IF the file can be played by WMP or by MPC-HC/BE, there is some hope, but if it cannot be played by WMP or by MPC-HC/BE, better forget it...

    Where does it come from ? Does MediaInfo report it as encrypted ? Does MediaInfo report it as valid WMV ?
