I think it depends on the p-code : if you upgrade your dvd player with a new firmware without changing the p-code, it should still play svcd...

The p-code is a number you can change with your remote control. It allows you to get more for your player : for example watching svcd. This code depends on your firmware... what's your ?

My Philips DVD 751 says:
7.03 000320 P54 4.3.12

I'm planning to update to firmware 7.12 from
philips syndicate (btw is this the same firmware
philips would send me if I ask them to send me
the latest firmware?).
I bought the player last X-mas (in Europe).

unfortunately, the site with the p-codes is down. but I have a printed list, so if you tell me exactly what you are looking for...
For the differents firmware I don't know. for my model there is some little differences but nothing really important. My advice, I you don't have problem with your firmware, don't change it...

two problems with my 751 :
It plays svcd but no sound ...
It have 7.03 firmware, and no way too upgrade : "dla error"

Hi,
For the sound problem, you have to use analogs outputs (it doesn't work with dtgital one). For the upgrade, no idea, sorry... what new FW did you download ?
