Trying to download from uplynk

Hi! I hope someone can help me cause I have been unable to get it. To access it you need a vpn cause it's only available from the US (https://fxnow.fxnetworks.com/shows/breeders/video/most-recent/vdka17889836)

I'm trying to download a video that has a hidden m3u8 link. The manifest seems to be an mpd file:

When I try to download that directly with youtube-dl and ffmpeg it fails with "bad request"

Going through the files in network tab i was able to find (from this file: https://prod.gatekeeper.us-abc.symphony.edgedatg.com/api/ws/pluto/v1/module/videoplaye...o=VDKA17889836), an m3u8 file: https://content.uplynk.com/eefa2bbb29844f82b69f82c0ee7d7a62.m3u8

And from that m3u8 I see the different resolutions etc, for instance

If I try to download that I get a bunch of "SAMPLE-AES encryption is not supported yet" and it ends like this:

Can someone figure out how to download this? Thank you in advance.

in order to get plain aes-128 m3u8 from uplynk there must be cqs value as query string parameter with the m3u8 url. without the cqs, the uplynk m3u8 will default to sample-aes which is nothing but trouble. read old topic about uplynk and cqs for m3u8 here. did you try the fxnow url with youtube-dl?

edit: the same video clip is available on youtube in 1080p: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVDPMdbXVJ8

it looks better than the version of the video clip from fxnow downloaded with youtube-dl, which is only 720p. you might be better off just to download the youtube version.

Thanks for the information about the cqs value. I had no idea and will look at that other post more closely. I tried following it but it became a bit confusing. (I did try with youtube-dl and the fx network link but it didn't work).

However, it's so good that it's on yt! I feel silly that I haven't checked that first before getting more technical.
