I have an unused Z77 motherboard and other parts for a new built, but I am missing a CPU. What should I be looking for? A Pentium G, an i3, i5 or i7? What difference in performance should I expect for simple operations such as internet browsing and office applications? I so far could find used a Pentium G620, an i3-2120 and an i5-2400, but I could keep looking.

LGA1155 CPUs: https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=100007671%20600095610
But for the light usage you describe you probably won't notice much of a difference with more than the i5-2400. Maybe even the i3-2120.
