    Hello All!

The title pretty much explains my issue here. I’ve been trying to surprise my family with getting our old mini dv tapes on a computer to display. I’ve been running into multiple issues though.

This is a panasonic palmrecorder Model PV-DV1020

What software could I use to get the tapes on? I will post some pictures of my camera ports as i’m completely stuck on how to record this on a laptop. If anyone has any information on this palmrecorder and how to transfer the tapes that would be phenomenal.

the cam has a firewire port like all miniDV cams. it's the best way to transfer video with no loss. whether your laptop has a firewire port is another matter.

  3. DV should always be transferred as DV -- a bit for bit copy of the tape using a firewire cable connected to a firewire card in the computer. Your 4-pin DV connctor is right next to the blue eject tape button.

Edit: Ahhh! You beat me you big meanie!

  4. +1 to the previous replies. The tough thing for most people is finding a 1394/Firewire card for their computer. Once you have that, if you have Windows, use either WinDVD or Scenalyzer as the software. I prefer Scenalyzer.
