  1. I am creating my own DVD discs with only one hour of video on each. If I have room on the disc for LPCM audio is it better to use than Dolby Digital? What are the advantages/disadvantages to using these two formats baring in mind I can fit LPCM on my disc?

  2. For stereo soundtracks, DD has no real advantages over PCM other than size, at least as far as I can see. Also, many consumer level DVD authoring programs will not handle DD encoded audio, so it may not even be a choice depending on the authoring packages you have available. If you can produce 5.1 channel audio somehow, and author it, DD is the way to go.

  5. Actually, I have used DVDit PE with dolby digital and had strange sync problems on some movies. So for this reason alone I would stick with PCM if you can. Personally I cant see any advantage to using DD other than file size.

  6. Funny you should say that. I too have had sync problems with DVDit! PE. What do use use now?

  7. If I can get away with it sound/size wise I use MyDvd, also by sonic, but does not support DD. I suppose DVDitPE with PCM would also work. As I dont always get sync probs, if the movie is too big for PCM audio to be used I try DVDitPE but author to HD 1st to test. If I still have a problem with sync I usually end up re-encoding at a lower bitrate to allow me to use PCM! Not Ideal I know but have not yet splashed out on any alternatives as, reading these forums, they all have problems of one sort or another!
