  1. Hi,

I searched the forum and found a few people mentioning this feature for this specific model camcorder. However, I downloaded the manual from Sony's site and there is no mention at all of this feature or instructions on how to set up pass through. If you own this model, can you confirm if it's available?

  3. I’ve seen that document in my searches and I’m not sure it’s entirely accurate. It doesn’t appear to be something issued by Sony. Also, it lists the DCR-HC21 model on that list but I personally have that model and can confirm it does not support pass through.

Wish i could help you but might help someone else who searches this topic. I have the Sony Handycam DCR-HC30 NTSC and can confirm that it has the analog to DV pass-through function.

There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

  5. There may be some differences between PAL and NTSC on this. I believe the functionality was disabled on many PAL cameras.

Also important with these models if you are buying one, you need the docking thing for some of the in/outputs.

  6. Following up on my own post. I was able to confirm the DCR-HC40 does have analog to digital conversion. This feature was buried in the manual and not specifically listed in the table of contents like it was done for other models. Thanks to all who replied.
