Hello there,
It is my first thread in the forum and I am doing this for my dad jajaj I'll explain it. My dad used to capture video from his vhs tapes and he wants to do it again in order not to lost that videos.
The thing is that we bought many years ago a licence of Pinnacle Studio 8 that includes Hollywood FX cd or something like this AND most important a PCI AV/DV sort of card and a BlueBlox.
I was able to install windows xp and to install the software for the Pinnacle Studio 8. I also was able to install the card along with the drivers (2 days of suffer) and now I can capture. But I have found 2 problems and I don't know what to do.
1. The S-VIDEO is capturing in black and white. In Composite it is okay, but I understand that S-Video has better quality.
2. In the capture videos there is no sound.
The installation is like this: from a vhs player there is an output scart and I have a scart adapter, scart for a side an the other is AV and S-Video. The s-video and av cables goes from that adapter to the Pinnacle BlueBox and from the Pinnacle BlueBox to the connection in the PCI AVDV Card.

Sorry if my English is not so good, I am Spanish.
Thank you very much.
Edit: I ask for support to Pinnacle and they answer me that studio 8 is no longer supported and tell me to by a Dazzle DVD Recorder HD. Thank You Pinnacle![]()

1. Use composite. You're connecting a VHS VCR, which is only capable of composite. If you force S-Video, the combination of your SCART adapter and capture device will either produce black & white, as you've seen, or color with bad herringbone noise caused by PAL cross-color artifacts.
2. Troubleshoot: use the same connection but attach to a TV instead of your capture setup. Do you get sound? My YouTube channel with little clips: vhs-decode, comparing TBC, etc. -
Thank you for the information. I manage to obtain audio just by removing and attaching the scart to the capture setup every time (silly solution I know).
I am going to try the option of the TV. I have an old TV and it only has a entry scart, I don't know if it will be able to give output (I don't know if I am explaining myself good enough jajaja).
Thank you so much.
