I am re-muxing some MKV files to MP4 using Handbrake. The original files are 1280 x 720 16.9 at 23,876 FPS however when I use Handbrakes default setting of Fast 720p 30FPS some of the converted files come out at 1280x 536 or even 1214 x 536. Presumably there is a setting in Handbrake that results in this behaviour? That said If I re-mux to MP4 using Avidemux using the swsresize filter set to 1280 x 720 bilinear the resultant file is correct at 1280 x 720.

    Many thanks
    Fozzie

PS The only reason I am not using Avidemux for all conversions is the batch file option on Linux is not working for me

Auto crop? Possibly chopping off any black from sides, top and bottom

  3. You are not re-muxing, you are re-encoding, when you re-mux you simply put the video and audio into a new container, it's not possible to resize while re-muxing and handbrake does not have a re-muxing option.

What you are seeing is the auto crop feature, but if you only wish to re-mux you shouldn't be using handbrake at all.

Thanks you learn something new every day, I assumed that I was just changing the container from MKV to MP4 and this was being done by the Handbrake presets. However Avidemux does appear to remux from the few results I have tried. As stated in my original post the only reason I was using Handbrake was batch conversion. I have Avdimux 2.7 on Linux and I cannot get the Batch Processing part of the application to work.
