I have on my HD an old VOB video file, with a size of 417 MB. I can see it, it's all blue without any picture in it. But I wonder how is it possible a 400 MB file to be empty. It really has nothing in it, or is it corrupt? I converted it in mpg and mp4 files, and I see always the same blue image. I tried to fix the mpg file with “All Video Fixer” but I keep seeing always the same blue image. I still wonder if it is really empty or should I try to recover it using another software? What do you think about it?

If you don't get an error message in any of the programs you tried it's probably just a blue video.

Thank you all very much for your immediates replies!
You are right, it doesn't play with vlc either. It's just, as you say, a blue movie. I conclude that it is a wrong copy of my old tapes. -
It's a vob. You do not get 'exotic' codecs in these. Only mpeg2.

I agree, VOB can only contain MPEG2; and sometimes MPEG1.
But it's possible the file isn't really a VOB file. Anybody can change the extension of a file. And most media players can play a video file even if the extension has been changed. The OP should use MediaInfo to check the file, to verify what the true container is and what codecs are used for the video and/or audio.
