    Hello Everyone

I have a question. I'm doing a bunch of coding from x264 to x265 files.

the program using don't really change the file name of a file unless its already in the dir and then it adds encoded to it.

however what I am looking at doing is

taking a folder or group of files could be just a few or a whole lot

run a program that will go through the file names and anytime it finds x264 changes it to x265 (h264 to h265)

    is this even possible?

    Thanks

    Ryan

  2. The best file renamer I've ever used is Bulk Rename Utility. It can do absolutely anything, and doing a search/replace on file names in a folder is trivially easy to do with it. It is free, but I always donate some money to people who produce software that is this good.

I'm glad it worked for you. I have found it to be one of the better utilities I've ever used. If you really get into it, you will find that you can use regular expressions to do things like swap the first two words of a file name, or just about any other strange operation you can think of.

  6. Why do you want to reencode from 264 to 265?

Both are lossy formats and you will lose quality/pick up artifacts with each generation, both video and audio.

You can save lots of space by encoding to hevc.

Actually, you save a lot compared to x264 "aedipuss".

baloney. you save a little at the expense of more cpu power needed to decode them.
