I have a dumb question: is there a way to make VCD with two audio tracks? Stereo is preferrable but mono is also OK.
When playing with a DVD player, I should be able to use the AUDIO button to select the audio track (1 or 2).
If yes, what are the recommended procedure and tools?

  2. I've heard rumors that you can make selectable subtitles (up to 4 tracks) and audio (2 tracks, AC3) SVCD. But I've never been able to find anything on it.

The first thing that comes to mind thou (if mono is ok) is to make a wave file with different audio for the left and right tracks, then only play one (option on most TVs I've seen). Not sure if that helps

I had a similar question (except for SVCD). Have a look at my link:

For VCD, as part of its specs, you can have 1 stereo or 2 mono soundtracks. Check out:

  4. I had that same question. I made a vcd with two audio tracks one left channel and one right, it worked brilliantly, but both channels are mono and the sound is quiet low but here's a link and see if that helps.

  5. VCDs only support stereo audio track. Obviously, this can be one stereo (L and R) or two mono (L OR R) tracks.

SVCDs can support a couple (?two) of stereo soundtracks. This is in MPEG-audio NOT AC3 (digital Dolby).

    hmmm,

This is getting interresting I have no clue if it is an official standard and if any DVD/VCD players detect and use such discs, but I-Author is able to create Karaoke VCDs.
I do know that these have 2 combined mono tracks. One with and one without voices. I haven't had the time to experiment with these, but it would be fun to do...
Further more I have one of those neat portable NAPA VCD players. With these you can switch the channels and spread them over both (Stereo) Speakers. Stereo would be L+R on both channels, but it can also put R+R or L+L on both channels

  8. Standard VCDs support only ONE stereo track (which obviously also means you can have TWO mono tracks).

Standard SVCDs support TWO full stereo tracks (which means you can have two stereo tracks, four mono, or one stereo and two mono).
