Just tested. name.eng.srt is recognized correctly.

    2. The app was deleted after closing.
    Never seen this behavior.

Since Clever was deleted, how do I go back to .05? Thanks.
Did you make a backup of v3.4.5.05?
If so, extract the exe from the v3.4.5.06 zip archive and start it.
Click on settings, you'll see the info like in the pic.

Click on Use it, set restore, click OK.

The app will restart with version 3.4.5.05.

    btw.
I'm adding this backup for you.
    1. I should have made screenshots of the mux screen. Under the Codex column, there is usually something like H.264, etc. etc. When I dropped a file on the mux page of .06, the codec heading shows some unrecognizable gibberish and when clicked on mux, Clever says the codec is not recognizable.

    2. I did made screenshots of the self-deleted Clever.

    .06 self-deleted again just now.

    Maybe Window Defender deletes it?
How do I open the backup file you made for me? I double click on it and nothing happens. Thanks.

    I like doing that!

    v3.4.5.06 Feedback

    Update:
The app folder only contain the usual 7 files.
I start v3.4.5.05 and update to 06. So 05 get closed and 06 get started. But when I close 06, the 06 "clever FFmpeg GUI.exe" get deleted and Updater.bat stay in the app folder.
    I use W11 x64.

    Restore:
The restore of 05 from 06 is working!

    ---

The output file check after encoding is working. Also for "aac fdk". Thank you.

    ---

All unused processed files are selected by default. Thanks.

  3. I downloaded the latest beta which is .06

Sub muxing is working fine now.

After closing, Clever still self-deletes with this messagebox.

    @ Findu, davidt1

Oops. With testing, I accidentally disabled a function.
    It's now fixed.
Update to the new v3.4.5.07, now online.

    @davidt1
    Your pics show version 3.4.3.
Forget those and just use the latest nightly build.

The backup file can be used from the app only.

    v3.4.5.08 Feedback

    Your fix is working. Thanks.

Problem: It looks like that the restore only works when the file "rename" exists before you start the update proces
EDIT: often I have to run restore twice to get it done.

    ADD & EDIT2:
BTW: Even with a new app version availabel, you can perform a backup of the used app version even if an older backup exists. Perfect!

No problem here with me, but I'll add a wait loop for file existence in the restore script.

    v3.4.5.08 Feedback

    - Is there a reason why the 'change frame rate' screen is missing 'to batch' button.
all the other features under various have it.
    - And why is the stream index box placed all the way on the right?

Which atempo value is used for converting audio from 25 to 23.976?

There was a reason, because the previous task involved three steps.
That is no longer the case, so I will reactivate the button.
The stream selection is positioned where it is because other elements were taking up the space.
However, I will change that and move the stream selection to the left.

  17. New feature idea ..

when you try to encode a large file ~ 10Gb, wouldn't be cool if, after selecting your
settings, Clever would estimate the time and target size before starting the process.

one way to do this is by running a sample encode say [2%, larger for better accuracy]
and then note sample size and time taken to process. extrapolate, linearly, to full size
encode for estimated time and target size.

I created a script to do this and found the result, although linear, was pretty accurate.

    @ProWo .. up for a new challenge?

  18. Thanks to the developer of this software. It is a very good FFmpeg GUI.
I would like to ask something. It's about how the software stores its settings.
It creates a file (portable.config) to store them.
The settings I see on the file are stored based on my computer's name.
    Well I don't like that
I just renamed my computer and new settings have to be created with the new name of my computer.
If I use the program from my USB to another computer I will have to save the settings for this computer again.
    Can this be avoided?
I would like to use the same settings everywhere and my settings not need to be set again if I rename my computer.
Thanks again to the developer of this excellent software.

    Unfortunately, no.

    FFMPEG: 52:39.389
    cleverGUI: 52:39.410

Any idea why this is happening?

You are using this and you set the settings not to be globally portable right?

    https://github.com/crdx/PortableSettingsProvider

This is very important to me because I encode in many PCs all the time and I want the app to be globally portable.
So I will have to use Handbrake which can be globally portable.

Thank you for your reply and this great FFmpeg GUI.

No, I'm using another PortableSettingsProvider (Bluegrams).

    I've made some changes.
    You have PM.

Anyway: Computer related data like app paths or screen position must be renewed with any new computer.

Maybe you've changed the pitch too with clever.

  25. Yes, you are right. It was the pitch change.
Not that it really matters since it is so small, but why does the pitch adjustment affect the length?

Because the pitch change involves freqency changes too, so the math brings to little differences, not notable anyway.

  27. I love Clever.

I like watching YouTube videos. I download them along with the subtitle and watch later. I use Clever to mux the subtitles.

It's great that I can drag and drop all the files to Clever. The files are then grouped and the first group is checked. If I am doing MKV and don't need to check the default, I can just click "Multiplex" until all the files are done. Can't do it this fast with MKVToolnix.

Now if the are two subs or more, then I would need to choose a default. And if I am doing MP4 and language code is not "eng", then I have to type that in. Can Clever be optimized to automate the process even further?
