Will improve the info.
YesThe Crop page does not show all information at start. But I think that's intentional.
Will be done. When using Crop and you change the stream, the crop value remain. They'd better be reset if streams have different resolutions or in general.
Could you post a small sample of such a video here to test?Mapping is wrong using crop for a second or higher video stream (stream 1 and more)

No, but mantaining the HDR10/HLG sidedata involves x265 params and ffplay cannot handle them, so the preview isn't available. If I select HDR10/HLG to SDR, the preview button appear. But not for Keep HDR10 and the others. Intention?

I found the problem.
When you get back from crop, working on stream 1 or higher, the stream resets to 0 and does not stay in the selection!!!

The bug opening subtitel stream after video or audio stream has been fixed.
Stay open and the video stream number remain after closing crop. Thanks.
When you open video stream the first time, the cropped part is visable.

When you set crop for stream 0, switch to stream 1, the "Frame size" of stream 0 get loaded. When you switch back to stream 0 the "Frame size" of stream 1 get loaded.
But when you click the "Cancel crops" button, it get reset to normal.
BTW: "Cancel crops" - did you plan to keep the crops for all streams, till you click this?

Subtitel:
The language title is cut too early because it looks like there is still some space left.

Could you retain the last "Convert to" selection as it get reset to ass at app start as well.
You have already changed this while the instance is running. -

Hi ProWo I update clever ffmpeg to 3.3.9. Thank you so much for continuing to develop this app. But one thing is that it looks very ugly. No program you use will let you know that it is out of date. Not even in the opening window. And the version it says is out of date is a beta. This can be seen separately in the settings under Update. But I don't think it's nice in the main window.
v3.3.9.01 beta is newer then v3.3.9 and has a few bugs fixed. That's why it's a good idea to update.
But if you don't want that and if the note bothers you, then open the portable.config file in the program folder and delete the two lines:
<upd_reminder>/upd_reminder>
<nva></nva>
Save the change and restart clever FFmpeg GUI. -

You are right. It works as expected.

Downmix options behaviour:
If your first source stream is stereo, the downmix options will not load at startup. Whe you switch to a multi channel stream downmix appear and stay when you switch back to the stereo stream.
If you select a preset with add volume and then change the encoder or channels, it will revert to No Downmix but the volume change will remain instead of removing the added value or resetting it to zero.
You have to open Audio filter to change volume back or to zero.
If you select 2 channels, container m4a and encoder Vorbis and click "Encode" or "To batch", the downmix part remain hidden and will not be reloaded. The same applies to all encoders that do not support m4a container. -
Yellow update notification:
A more subtle option would be to rename the button to "Settings & Update" and perhaps color it yellow. Both only when a newer version is available.

WebVTT subs become text subs when muxed in MP4 container.
WebVTT subs remain the same when muxed in MKV container.
Can you change WebVTT subs to text subs (srt) in MKV container too?
1. It's more consistent to have text subs in both containers.
2. Older devices don't display WebVTT subs.
3. WebVTT subs are sometimes more problematic during cutting, joining, etc.
Thanks. -
Webvtt subtitles are text subtitles.
Webvtt, if muxed to mp4 is converted to subrip, because the mp4 container is incompatible with mp4.
The mkv container instead accepts webvtt.
If you want subrip instead of webvtt in mkv, then convert webvtt to subrip and mux the new subrip instead of webvtt to mkv.
That's simple:
Load your video with webvtt (or the webvtt subtitle only), click main page, click convert subtitle stream.
Select subrip and click convert. The click multiplex and mux it. -

3.3.9.02 Feedback
I can confirm that all the issues mentioned before have been resolved. Thank you. -
Hello, I'm trying to convert a "PAL" movie's audio track to a "NTSC" framerate,
but resultant length will be quite different than expected. Basically, I'm using a
"01:08:05" file as input (25 FPS, constant, interlaced), and the expected one
should be "01:08.12" (23,976, constant, progressive, +/- 1 second); but the
given length is: "01:10:59". Video's content is the same (PAL starts ~ 1 second faster).
I'm following your conversion guide steps. -

Suggestion: I suspect that not all users know that your tool has an update function. Therefore, it might make sense to rename the Settings button to "Settings & Update".

When you open Audio encoding, Channels, Remap, change nothing and click Remap, the green statement Channels remapped appear.
It's not that tragic, but it shouldn't happen in this particular case. -
Doing some math:
Your 25 fps PAL source is 01:08:05 long, that are 4085 seconds.
4085/(24000/1001)*25 gives 4259 seconds, that is 01:10:59.
So my program is right.
If your 23.976 fps target video is 01:08:12 long then it is shorter than your 25 fps video.
Do the following:
Extract the audio stream of the NTSC video (I refer to it as a)
Convert the PAL audio stream with 25 --> 23.976. I call the result b.
Start audacity.
Drag a, then b.
You will see that b is longer than a.
Move the b so that the peaks match a.
Then cut away the excess parts of b.
Then delete a and export b.
Then mux b with your 23.976 fps video stream. -
Will be done.

Files with two video streams:
The video encoding and cup previews always show stream 1, even if stream 0 is selected.
When you cut/join such a file, both streams are preserved in the cuts/joins, which makes sense.
The previews in cut search cut points & preview, chapters video and various crop also show only stream 1.
What about all the "Various" options like crop when the two streams have different resolutions?
Metadata crop only works for stream 0.
Metadata rotate for both.
Maybe a text on the Various page could inform about the limitations of files with multiple video streams! -

I think your program is doing the conversion rightly, but for some unknown reason to me,
the "PAL" source track will be longer than the expected, once it was converted to "NTSC film" 23,976.
I tried what you suggested, but when ti comes to matching peaks and cutting excess parts, I don't think
that will the right approach, since that the converted track gets progressively out of sync respect the "NTSC"
one doesn't mean it has additional "discardable" footage, but one that has to be synced to the needed pace
from the source.
Curiously enough, the original "PAL" audio track gets just a little bit faster than the "NTSC" one, around 4 seconds,
and giving it the same tempo as that from the source's using the "change tempo" function, will help, but it will remain
as a not properly synchronized track. I'm wondering about if the issue could be related to a few slightly differences between
the footage from both sources? I mean, a few additional seconds here and there present in the dubbing track (PAL), mainly
in between cut scenes.
I usually get problems like these when trying to synchronize audio tracks from NTSC DVDs but
which have a "variable framerate" video as source. Those ones will need a lot of editing to match,
since there will be parts with the right synchro, but others will need to be adjusted manually each time.
Sometimes, with 25/23,976 sources the only needed is a framerate conversion and maybe a few delay seconds,
but others, it gets harder, as with this one.
I even have a few "PAL" audios that incredibly enough, didn't need any additional "treatment" to
get along with their "NTSC film" counterparts; but they are a few weird cases only.Last edited by FTG; 11th Mar 2025 at 16:23.

As you can see from the picture, the two videos have different content.
Keeping this synchronized with a foreign audio track is purely manual work and perhaps not even possible because audio parts are missing in one language.
If it's a commercial movie, look for other sources. -
-
As I said before, the original "PAL" dubbing track almost matches the "NTSC" timings:
And I don't see any actual "footage" differences, but it seems there are a few additional seconds
between scenes changes (black cross-fadings), so as it the case with movies which have the
same framerates values, but different encoding modes ("constant" versus "variable" FPS),
it would mean a tedious and time consuming task to manually adjust the dubbing track segments,
till both tracks match correctly.
It is about commercial movies, but in most cases, dubbing tracks are from old "PAL" and even
"NTSC" DVDs (with variable video framerates), which aren't otherwise available, and will need
to be synchronized to original audio tracks from BDs. -

NEW ffmpeg version 7.1.1
Would it make sense to offer an automatic install/update (W10/11 64 bit only) for ffmpeg?
Inexperienced users would benefit from less install/update effort and you could keep ffmpeg on one version to prevent probems.
Experienced user can change/switch folder/versions for ffmpeg like before.
You could use a modified first lauch page like this one: (see added text)
[Attachment 86063 - Click to enlarge]
After a click on the "Get ffmpeg" button, you could ask to allow the automatic download of the latest stable version into your app folder \ffmpeg\bin\, automatically extract the files and set the ffmpeg bin folder path used by your app.
You take care for updates in the settings like you do for your app.
But it doesn't realy matter if you don't want to waste time on it! -
@ ProWo
Just an error message at start of the app when the ffmpeg path does not match the entry in portable.config.
It's not a big problem because you can still adjust the path in the app.
