    Hi
Please suggestion to me a converter app or a solution for convert any video format to AVi Container with DV Video format.
(AVi as container and DV as video CODEC)

    Like this example:
    Format : AVI
    Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave
    Commercial name : DV
    Format profile : OpenDML
    File size : 4.43 GiB
    Duration : 21 min 22 s
Overall bit rate mode : Constant
    Overall bit rate : 29.7 Mb/s

    Video
    ID : 0
    Format : DV
    Codec ID : dvsd
    Codec ID/Hint : Sony
    Duration : 21 min 22 s
    Bit rate mode : Constant
    Bit rate : 24.4 Mb/s
    Encoded bit rate : 28.8 Mb/s
    Width : 720 pixels
    Height : 576 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 16:9
    Frame rate mode : Constant
    Frame rate : 25.000 FPS
    Standard : PAL
    Color space : YUV
    Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0
    Bit depth : 8 bits
    Scan type : Interlaced
Scan order : Top Field First
    Compression mode : Lossy
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 2.357
Time code of first frame : 00:00:00:00
Time code source : Subcode time code
    Stream size : 4.30 GiB (97%)

this file converted(Rendered) with Magix Vegas but video bitrate very high and file size 4 time greater than the original vob file.

  2. DV uses a fixed bitrate so any video you convert to DV will end up around 4 GB per 20 minutes, or 200 MB/min -- no matter what program you use. Why do you want to convert everything to DV? You're only going to reduce the quality.

    thanks man
i'm using Nuendo (version 4.3.0 Build 371) on win 7 64bit for sound mixing a short film.

Nuendo has 3 optional video playback method:
    1.DirectShow
    2.DirectX
    3.QuickTime

best option for me import DV-AVi Video and use DirectShow to play video.
other options (2.DirectX 3.QuickTime) and other format have lag,non-sync,low quality and puse video during the mixing.

my pc motherboard and video card info:
    motherboard:Intel DH57DD
video card:Intel HD Graphics-Intel Havendale/Clarkdale Processor - Integrated Graphics Controller

XmediaRecode is a good converter.but same as jagabo says ((DV uses a fixed bitrate)) then file size for 90 min video (720x576 25FPS) is 18GB.
i have to change Nuendo version.

  6. Since this video is a guide for audio mixing you don't need "ideal" quality, You can reduce the raster size to say 640x360 and the bitrate to about 2 Mb/s using prores or i-frame h.264 in a quicktime (mov) wrapper.
