  1. I have recently acquired SmartRipper DVD2AVI and TMPEng and have been ripping DVDs with those programs. However, I want to burn a copy of my Neon Genesis Evangelion (Anime) Box Set which is an 8 DVD Series. I know it is going to take a while and a lot of HDD space, but thats not an issue. I need to learn how to encode it with Japanese audio and English Subtitles. I am aware that I will probably have to download more programs and codecs, but I don't mind. If ANYONE could help me out, I would be very appreciative. My e-mail is CobaltInfinity@hotmail.com, I will check back for responses. Thanks for your time and effort.

  2. I read that...unfortunately no where in there does it say HOW to get subtitles (this is all new to me). I also need to know what programs, if any, I need to get to be able to do it. I would also be greatful if someone could tell me how to encode with the japanese audio. Thanks for all your help guys.

  4. Should i leave the smartripper settings the same? In terms of the seperate channel burning that is. It has a multitude of options. Just curious what works best.

    Thanks,
    Ben

Hi: I have just started this set for my kids. The way I have been going is in SmartRipper set it to create a VOB file at each Chapter. This gives 20 chapters in the first disk. Every 4 chapters is 1 episode and the last 4 (ie 17 to 20) are the foreign language credits for each episode. Then in DVD2AVI open each set of 4 chapters seperately to divide the episodes. Note the start and stop times for each to help with subtitles. Track 4 is Japanese and Track 1 is english. So save project converting track 4 to wave. Do your encoding either with Tmpeg or CCE. Rip subtitles with SubRip 0.96 and save as Phillips type (*.sub and bitmaps) and divide into 4 files using the times you jotted down in DVD2AVI. Then use SubMux and the SubMux GUI to mux the subtitles to the mpg files for each episode. Software that isn't available here can be gotten at Doom9.net
