  1. i'm trying to convert a *.mov file to *.mpg, by converting it to *.avi first. the first conversion is no problem, but the problem occurs when i try to use Tmpgenc to convert it to mpeg. i have watched the original *.avi file and its fine, but when i encode it to mpeg (or when i preview the conversion), all i get is a blank screen with the sound.
any idea what i'm doing wrong?

    cheers,
    Olly.

I've gotten the same thing. with some test captures from my DC10 (MJPEG).
I noticed that if I don't render the avi to huffy, sometimes, the TMPGenc will
show a blank screen - throughout the move. If you go into TMPGend,
Advanced tab, and [x] Source Frame Rage, and then double click on it,
after the video shows up, just slide the bar across to see if the whole movie
is like this. If it is, when you encode (1, 2, 5 hours later), the whole movie
will be blank!! But, I've noticed that sometimes if the encode it's a bad spot,
the movies will be blank from the point on. Using the above routine, if you know
the frame numbers (see the encode window), you can just plug them in and just
move hte scale or bar a notch, and continue encodeing. Maybe till will help.
    Maybe not!

But, yess, if anyone has the remedy, it would be grealy appreciated!!

    Thank you!

    HI olly,

I did answer this in a prev. post yesterday or so.
Just use the TMPGEnc 12 (doesn't work with versions 12a/12b/12c/12d/12i)
I think that the newer versions forgot how to handle or open properly and read
    these files.

    Please give v12 a try!!
