I want to use my camcorder as a webcam for better quality. It has AV Out, Component Out, and HDMI out, but my laptop apparently doesn t have an HDMI In, Component In or AV In ports At least, that s what I m guessing, it doesn t say whether they are in or out https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product...
I found this, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Oa20kvmBec
But wonder if it would require a special adapter like this, or a simple HDMI to USB cable would do, I m finding lots of USB to HDMI but not any HDMI to USB.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Cables? - No.
For the simple reason that a number of things have to be converted (video & audio signals-possibly, video & audio timing, protocol, packet timing, buffering to keep it all in sync), and this requires considerable power capability.
Your best bet is an in-line HDMI->USB converter/capture device, such as the Magewell line. They are usb powered.

This review of the Magewell USB Capture HDMI Gen2 discusses using a camcorder as a webcam with the help of this capture device: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/RYPAGSVYFOUGA/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF...SIN=B00I16VQOY

Note they said, "audio quality was lacking".
And that's what happens when you use a webcam as your audio source instead of a dedicated mic. Foremost, optimal placement optically is not going to be optimal placement sonically. Next, webcam resources are spent primarily making the camera good - the audio is almost always an afterthought.
Yeah, I've used that device along with the ClearOne Unite200 PTZ cam (using 75' Active HDMI cable in between) very successfully in over 100 installations so far. With the (separate & independent) mic(s) going their own sidechain.

My camcorder may be too old. It is this- https://www.manualslib.com/manual/823608/Jvc-Everio-Gz-Hd620.html#product-Everio%20GZ-HD500

I bought this webcam, https://www.logitech.com/assets/38467/4/hd-webcam-c615-gsw.pdf except it didn't come with all the things listed in the PDF, just the cord, the camera and the sheets look different, one is the setup guide that shows you how to connect it to the computer, a tripod and turn it and fold out it's bottom piece it can stand on.
What kind of camera would you need to get the kind of quality you get the kind of quality you see when watch podcasts here- https://twit.tv/ some kind of professional one costing thosands? Just it has very good picture/lagless quality, etc. -
1. Camcorder/dslr, not webcam
https://twit.tv/shows/know-how/episodes/46
Most webcams have cheap/poor quality sensors.
2. Lighting.
You must get lots of light on set, else you'll get laggy video due to slow shutter speeds.
Iso 100 1/125 at the minimum.
3. See link above for the rest of answers.
