    Hello,

I am in the process of archiving some DVCam tapes. I have a Sony DSR40. There are breaks in the control track on the tapes. When the DSR40 comes to one of thee breaks, it automatically stops and rewinds the tape. I am hoping to bulk digitize entire tapes without sitting at the station. Does anyone know how to override this feature?

I found auto-rewind when the tape is at its end, I disabled that function. However, it did not solve the riddle of the control track breaks.

    Any help is most appreciated!!

    Thanks,

    Roy

  2. What software are you using?
    Try http://www.scenalyzer.com/
    Or http://windv.mourek.cz/
Should have continue despite breaks mode.

I was using iMovie but could use Avid if needed. However, the software continues to digitize across control track breaks, it is the DSR40 that stops and rewinds.

  4. 1. there is a remote/local control switch. change it and see if there's any change.
    2. in imovie, there's automatic and manual capture. try both.
    3. Could just be crappy imovie.

Is the timer switch at the repeat position? If so try to set it to off and see what happens, Alternatively try to switch between time code and counter and see what happens.

Thanks. I tried the timer switch and all other external switches. I will run a test later to see if it happens if I am only playing the tape and not digitizing. I don't see how how the software makes a difference because I am not using any deck control features in the iMovie. I am using the DV out to Firewire 400 cable (with a 400 to 800 adpater). I do know that the firewire OUT is also a firewire IN, depending on the setting. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. I'll try it later today.

As well, I tried using the time code reader/elapsed time setting and that did not make a difference.
