  1. Hi, I see there are many movies and games initially released in SD are remastered into HD. I notice that it's in complete different level with resized HD videos. Is it possible to remaster low quality source myself via video editing?

  2. Movies (and most TV shows) were shot on film -- which has much higher resolution than SD video. When those movies are (re)released in HD they go back to the original film to get HD scans. They do not upscale old SD video.

As usual, how good it looks it depends on the source. Low detail, low noise material compresses much better than high detail noisy video. So removing noise from your video can make a big difference.

Uprezzing almost never is worth the trouble. Exception: to fit into a higher rez edit timeline.

Also funny how they didn't mention that they rescanned the ANALOG film into HD or 4k, not using a poor SD copy.

Do you have the film scanner and access to the original negative or good quality film print ?

Get a copy of the film. Scan it with a film scanner.
