Hi All,
I have an AVI file that I recorded through VLC. The video is in AVI format and is uncompressed.
The issue was the file did not close correctly when I created it and there is an issue with the index.
The file is 156 or so gigs and lists that it is 56 minutes long and has 100,000+ frames (recorded at 30fps)
However, when I play it via VLC and it tries to rebuild the index, the recover lists only 40,200 or so frames.
I did a conversion from frame to jpg and it pulled off on the 40,200 or so.
Can any help give me a hand to figure out if the remaining frames are still there and if there is any way to extract them?
I should mention that I have tried all the usual suspects of DivFix++ etc. (with the file being so large many just fail outright because of file size)
Many Thanks,
Andy

It opens, repairs the index, but only extracts 40,129 of the 100,000+ frames that are in the file.
I get the 100,000+ frames from opening the file in GSpot, it indicates that there are 102,013 frames and 59 min of runtime.
From the VirtualDub repair I get 40,129 frames and about 29 min of runtime. -
If you can find a hex editor that handles files that large, try to confirm:
- There is actually data in the latter half of the file.
- It appears to follow the structure of AVI.
