What happened to these files? Were they deleted and then recovered?
-
No I just saved them on my Google drive and then when I went to retrieve them they dont play, and recently I put them in a player that supposedly plays all files and it said the file was 12:23 long as if it was gonna play it but it opens and then closes.

If they're small (less the 500MB) post one of them here to the forum

Does MediaInfo say anything about them (text view)? For example:

It's not an MKV file. It's a zip archive. Change the extension to 7z and open it with 7-zip. You'll see it's some Java stuff and Sun driver files or something. Maybe some device driver?
7-zip can only extract part of the archive. I suspect the original MKV file was overlaid with data from some other files. So the A/V data is no longer there. Using a hex editor I didn't see anything that looked like A/V data. The last 1/3 of the file is nothing but zeros.Last edited by jagabo; 4th Feb 2020 at 08:03.

It's an archive of some kind, but not a valid ZIP archive. It can be opened with 7-Zip indeed but it's not recognized by WinRAR, and doesn't have a typical "PK" signature. Strangely, 7-Zip 16.04 opens it with the .mkv extension, but refuses to open it with a .zip extension (says it can't be opened as an archive).
Anyway, it's definitely not a video file. At least it contains no malware according to VirusTotal...
