  1. hi,

i encoded an avi file to mpg with tmpgenc (with kwags template) and the finally size of the mpg file was about 810mb -> no chance to burn it on a 80min cdr. so i cut the last 3 mins of the credits (with tmpgenc) -> about 770mb. ok, but now i try to burn this file to vcd with nero but the filesize is noticed as about 860mb! nero gives me the cdr back and reports that there is not enough space on it. what does this increase mean. is it an error of nero? or did i cut the movie in a wrong way?
please help i'm a newbie. thx.

well I don't have the answer other than it seems that Nero reads filesize differently than say windows explorer--don't ask me why but you['re not crazy and you didn't cut the file wrong. I myself am trying to figure out why I can't burn 750MB in Nero to a regular CD where everyone else here seems to be able to.

  3. hi,

i cut the file one more time (with tmpgenc > mpeg-tools > cut), i changed the "type" from "mpeg-1 system (automatic)" to "mpeg-1 vcd (non-standard)". the file now is about 770mb like last time, but now nero recognises it as one of this size! hey, i think this was the reason for my problem, but i'm not sure

    bye, fuddy

You need to go to the preferences option then advanced settings and select overburn. There you can choose how much you want to overburn. Works up to about 850 or around there before it just writes off the end.
