Hi, I just connected an old SVHS Panasonic AG 5700 after not using it for some time and I only get a message on the small screen "sensor". Nothing else turns on. Should something else turn on when pressing power? Thank you.

There is a switch on the top left of the rear panel labeled "SENSOR REC" - if it is in the ON position, turn it OFF.
You should then be able to use the VCR normally.
The SENSOR REC mode puts the 5700 into a sort of recording standby zombie state, waiting for the signal from a compatible source to automatically trigger start and stop of recording.
