This is the first time this has happened to me.

I took the 'current url' from a youtube vid and fed it into youtube-dl to download that vid and found that youtube-dl was download 18 pages of a 'youtube mix' and then it proceeded to downloaded about 30 different videos, one after the other.

then it halted on some error.

If I start it again it swiftly works its way through the same procedure, attempting to download those it has already downloaded and telling me they're already done, downloading some new ones in the course of this that it apparently must have missed the first time - and then eventually failing on some error again.

There's literally hundreds of files here and the titles indicate most of them I simply don't want.

But it would be useful if I could dip into the list, take samples. Have youtube-dl download a selected file at a certain number in the list or a group of them so's I could get an idea of what's there.

Can I control youtube-dl's 'list' downloading in that way somehow?

  2. --playlist-items ITEM_SPEC Playlist video items to download. Specify indices of the
videos in the playlist separated by commas like:
"--playlist-items 1,2,5,8" if you want to download videos
indexed 1, 2, 5, 8 in the playlist. You can specify range:
"--playlist-items 1-3,7,10-13", it will download the videos
