  1. A while back I predicted that Intel's SVT encoders were the future of encoding, it seems I was partially right:

Intel’s and Netflix’s joint efforts continue with the development of an open-source high-performance encoder (SVT-AV1), optimized on 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, that delivers significant quality and performance gains making it viable for commercial deployment.

    Now if only they'd bring back some shows that were removed, or uncancel some series (Marvel), then we'd actually care a bit more.

    Some of us don't have to guess / predict what Netflix is going to use to encode there streams we read the press release from april last year

    Oh man, I had forgotten about this guy that claimed to have a PhD in video encoding from some school in Florida. I can't believe it's been over 3 years already.
