  1. Recently found some old obscure 1940 movies from ulozto site

Read "How to download from Uloz" https://rarefilmm.com/how-to-download/ and tried slow download. Noticed would take ~ 4 hrs OK but noticed the download stopped after a few minutes. Found out it was my fault. Cancel Chrome DL and also affected new Opera DL. Restarted (attach 1).

Then tried 4kvideodownloader_4.10.1_x64 portable. Also did not work (attach 2).

    Any tips/recommendations?

PS: download from this site (Slow Download) It is not possible: insert captcha code try and try again but the download will not start....

Vity's FreeRapid Downloader works just fine : https://wordrider.net/freerapid/index.html . It's x86 app, and requires Java (don't forget to update FRD's plugins !).I have latest stable version with jPortable.

  5. Vity's FreeRapid Downloader it's similar to jdownloader2...
    simple downloader to bypass site...
it may be valid, but only in this specific case.
it is not a viable alternative to rip stream...

  7. Thanks everyone for your comments!

Please remember I am new to this.

Will try to answer your questions in order.

jagabo Maybe I did not explain correctly. I do not have a problem to download only the time for slow The movie was 3.4 GB and time over 4 hours. If need to can but this is a very long time.

lomero Why do you say "download from this site (Slow Download) It is not possible" slow dl can only use 1 thread.

jaodsvuda Glad to hear it worked for you! How long did it take with Vity's FreeRapid Downloader?

lomero "Vity's FreeRapid Downloader it's similar to jdownloader2... simple downloader to bypass site..." Please explain how it bypass site? Thanks

therain "simply choose resolution, play, then use IDM. (very fast &simple)" Also glad it works! Linked to https://www.videohelp.com/software/Internet-Download-Manager and checked IDM. Is there a Portable version available? I do not have permission to load apps on the Internet PC that use.

  8. IDM is not portable, but installed on other pc or other folder, you copy and paste where you want! run and him work!
then if you want use it as default download manager on chrome, firefox or opera, you must install appropriate extension for that browser.

my comment "slow download" is'not possible are because i have click on "slow download", solve captcha, but download not start....

Vity's FreeRapid -----> jdownloader2 ----> bypass site .... i mean who are download manager that they can download without going through the site; paste the link and they download without you going to the page!

  9. lomero Thanks for the clarification!

my comment "slow download" is'not possible are because i have click on "slow download", solve captcha, but download not start.... What browser were you using? Ask because Chrome seemed to stop or run very slow. Switched to Opera and seemed better.

    Thanks again for your help!

    https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14786&hilit=FreeRapid+Downloader

Yes, there is a portable version, working with jPortable x64 (using it on Windows 7 x64).
I have it on a freeware collection dvd (my hobby) since December 2018. Lost the exact web address (sorry), but the folder name suggested it's from this guy : XJDHDR from portableapps.
Pay attention to program settings, and update FRD's plugins (there's tons of them). Some of them are very interesting (MEGA, YouTube...), so take your time with them. Some of them have additional settings: Options ---> Preferences ---> Plugins ---> (plugins) Options.
It's an oldie, but still useful for batch downloading, slow speed hosters etc.

I've upload it, if you wanna try it (non-PAF version, everything you need is there): https://send.firefox.com/download/542e90af1b9f1404/#jW-4ZizZ_vNwmtuXsMM67Q

Just unpack both zip-files (one is FRD's, and the other is Java's) side by side somewhere in your Documents folder, and start it from there.

1st - you won't find any connection between FRD and malware. Let's google "JDownloader malware"...
2nd - even jdown2 rose some privacy concerns; google it
3rd - more popular doesn't mean better (e.g. Nero vs ImgBurn)

FRD works through plugins and their last update was a couple of weeks ago. Program itself is just an empty shell.

  16. ok jaodsvuda maybe you are not wrong...
jdown2 it is really heavy and has many useless things. and you're right when you say more popular doesn't mean better
I was just skeptical because I saw that it is still in 2014, but after what you said.... ok let's try it!
    tanxs for your explanation.

You're welcome, but let's not forget - stellar days for this type of downloaders were during RapidShare, old Mega, old Openload...
Since FRD is Czech app, it has plugins for many obscure EU, former East Europian, Russian web-sites, and can maintain connection at very low speeds. So it's not an everyday tool anymore, but sure is one to keep it in collection as portable.

Beginners Questions: 1 What is non-PAF version? 2 What was the size of the movie and how long did it take to download?

I tried the link you gave to download it https://send.firefox.com/download/542e90af1b9f1404/#jW-4ZizZ_vNwmtuXsMM67Q but got "This link has expired" How long do these links last? Reason ask will not be able to try to download it again until this Saturday Jan 11.

  20. jaodsvuda Am confused by the different download size for the Song of the South. Using the Slow Download there was no resolution option, just 960 x 720 (3.7 GB).

You got (1.4 GB) and therain got (1.57 GB) neither list resolution.

Just retried and got same result (1 Add) but when checked Opera DL Mgr (2 Add) got size of (3.4 GB)?

Rechecked the website but again did not find any resolution options?

  22. download java portable from portableapps, then install.
you see folder "Common files" with your java portable various file.
then burn new forder FRD, put freerapid down portable folder AND Common files folder.
    now run FRD.exe!
java portable must stay in same directory of FRD to work correctly

On the webpage https://rarefilmm.com/2019/02/song-of-the-south-1946-restored/, the playable embedded video (https://ok.ru/videoembed/1284536797862) is not the same source as the video linked by "DOWNLOAD THIS FILM", which is https://ulozto.net/!dj2s9TG5nzaq/song-of-the-south-1946-restored-mp4.

Also, many copies of this movie at archive.org, including a 20 GB fan restoration.
Clear downloads, none of this cloak and dagger stuff

I believe it was that one. If I remember rightly, I ended up re-encoding it because it was encoded RGB.

  28. davexnet Beginners Question: Why is the MP4 version 560.3 MB amd MKV version 22.2 GB? Are not they the same resolution?

I doubt it, the 22GB version was 1080p, I've no idea what the other one is - download it and see.
As I mentioned, the big one was encoded RGB. This accounts for it's great size
