won't see much difference between the original VOB and an AVC MP4 file at 1/2, maybe even 1/4 the size.
I assume jagabo was referring to file size rather than resolution.
I was also referring to file size, won't the quality difference between the file sizes be more visible when viewed on large resolutions?

As in: "the quality is worse, only if you zoom in it will be visible to you"

  2. If you don't want to loose video quality
If you dont want to increase the size of your copy
if you want to do fast DVD copy
Then your solution is XviD4PSP or XMedia Recode: import your DVD slect copy video select the container you prefer and then select the audio and subtitles you need
    No faster and better solution

But I need to crop and cut too. A larger file size (I mean larger than the original) is no problem as long as the larger size is usefull in a noticable quality matter

It depends on your viewing distance. A 20 inch monitor from 2 feet away looks the same as a 60 inch TV from 6 feet away (all else being equal, of course).

  6. For no other reason than to save myself from looking foolish, I've replaced the 640x480 encode in my previous post with a new version, because I realised I did a silly that stretched the picture a little. Probably not enough to notice unless you compared the two encodes directly, but I'm a bit OCD about that sort of thing.
