    i have an old Altec-lansing 2.1 speaker system that went through 5 or 6 pc configurations from XP to W7 and vista and i like them a lot .. but i built a capture system for vhs and i need another speaker system .. what would you recommend for under 100$

    M-Audio makes nice stereo studio grade powered speakers, I use the AV40 myself for my VCR work bench they have nice treble and punchy bass:

    well looks like my old altec-lansing could be downgraded to my second system (they are 12 to 15 years old now) and the m-audio one to my main pc..

    Now and days bookshelf system or soundbars as I mainly use it for non gaming purposes. Most are meant to sound good music wise and have various settings you can disable
    if all else fails read the manual
