VCD recording errors

I was trying to make my first vcd and I keep getting this error, it says
Power Cartilization or something like that. It won't record on a RW but it willon a cd-r so what is up? Please help me

when you say rw do you mean cd-rw

I had a problem with one of my cd-rw's I tried to erase it but I could not do it. Are you sure you erased the cd-rw disc

Yeah it is a CD-RW. I used Easy Cd Creator and NTI also and got the same problems. I used brand new out of the box cd-rw's
I am going have a fit I cna't even get one to work. I have tried 5 different brands of cd-r's and this is the first cd-rw I have tried and nothing works for me.

No you're not going crazy it's a Power Calibration Error. It's to do with making sure the laser in the cd burner is turned on enough to record the CD with actually cooking it. I got this error with Easy CD too (Philips burner, right?). I got rid of it by putting my burner in another machine! Not much help, I know, but the new machine had 128MB of memory whereas the old one only had 32MB. The old machine was higher spec in every other way. So "Power Calibration" wasn't the problem at all! Can u upgrade your memory or try different software eg Gear?
