The original divx is 512 x 272. I am converting it to DVD Pal (mpeg2), using the wizard in Tmpgenc 2.53, but it stretches the original material to make it 720 – 576: the people have long faces and so on. Is there a way to prevent it, I can’t see how to do this in Mpegenc.
I rather have the original size and the rest filled up with black, just as it looks in, say mediaplayer. Maybe first adding this black "stripes" with a program like virtualdub? Anybody can help me? Thanks in advance

On the TmpGenc video tab, ensure the aspect ratio is set to either 4:3 or 16:9 (whichever your TV is ), then, on the advanced tab, under Source aspect ratio, select 1:1 (VGA) and under video arrange method select Full screen (keep aspect rato2). This should have the desired effect. A warning though, if your TV is 4:3, you will get a very long thin letterboxed picture.
