What setting do I use in TMPGEnc (4:3. 16:9 4:3 display, 16:9 display, etc.) when I want to encode a DVD that originally was in widescreen format and I want to play a VCD of it in widescreen on a 4:3 NTSC screen?
Also, since I'm here, how do you transfer chapters for the second half of a movie if you're using Chapter X-tractor and VCD Easy?

for your 1st question, I just answered almost the same question here:

Sorry, cant help with the other one tho -
output video should be 4:3 NTSC
as for source aspect ratio ... asuming u ripping region 1 NTSC dvds ... you're gonna need dvd2avi to tell u what the source aspect ratio is....when u load the vob files and are creating the project file, it will tell u whether the source is 16:9 or 4:3
since you're ripping region 1 NTSC dvds, source aspect ratio in tmpgec will be either (16:9 525 line NTSC) or (4:3 525 line NTSC)
as for image positioning method, choose full screen (preserve aspect ratio)
