hmm....does anyone know if there is a software solution to get rid of the macrovision protection? if i try to encode macrovision protected (at least i think they are) from my VCD to my S-Video in on my graphic card, i only get a b/w picture that is slightly disorted.
unprotected videos do just fine.
i use a Asus V8200 and tried various capture software.
thanks for any tips.
ps: i know i could use a Sima video stabilizizer but i would prefer a SW solution

If the (s)vcd is homemade there should'nt be macrovision distortion.
You can find a hardware "video stabilizer" at:
http://www.sima.com -
I had the same problem and corrected it by adding the video stabilizer from Sima - works great!

The problem with a software solution is that you will be trying to recover a distorted signal because that is what you captured. Using the stabilizer just corrects the "black level" of the signal without distorting the picture portion of the signal.
I think you're doomed to failure by trying to correct the large amount of signal distortion/degradation in a captured "macrovisioned" video.
