When I import this video into Corel VideoStudio, it immediately has this problem, looks like there's maybe some kind of synchronization error?
Here is the original:
https://youtu.be/12x0dQ2HGkY
and here is after simply importing into VideoStudio and exporting it, no edits made (it also looks like this in the preview):

Can anybody tell me what the problem is? I am just trying out VideoStudio, would like to purchase it but not if this is the best it can do!

It could be variable frame rate causing problems
Code:Frame rate mode : Variable Frame rate : 29.970 (30000/1001) FPS Minimum frame rate : 29.970 FPS Maximum frame rate : 30.000 FPS
Remuxing it as a CFR (constant frame rate) file should help . You might try mymp4boxgui . If you're ok with commandline usage, mp4fpsmod can just fix the timecodes in place
There are other options for editors too, free ones like Davinci Resolve, Shotcut . Some of them handle VFR slightly better
But I would try the simple thing first - just rewrap it as a CFR file -
I tried converting it with MP4Box, but when I looked at the converted file with MediaInfo it still said it was a VFR...the rate itself changed but not that designation. I tried converting it using VLC and that did in fact change it to a CFR....however, it still did the same thing in Corel VideoStudio. I took a look at Davinci and it imported and ran that video just fine, so I might just abandon Corel and go with that unless you have any other ideas? I did notice that this file (and others from the same source, which do the same thing in VideoStudio) will not play in Windows Media Player v 12. It will load the file and play the audio, but all it will display as video is a horizontal line near the top of the screen. I think I will ask the people I got these from if they can shed any light on this too.
Thank you so much for your help! -
It should play in WMP , but you can install LAV filters
I don't use Corel VideoStudio , but the free version of Resolve is quite good and they are constantly improving it. One problem is that it's a bit resource intensive, the minimum requirements are quite high .
It also depends on what type of project you are doing - in terms of what types of edits or features that you need. But there are good free editor options in 2019 . -
I installed the LAV filters and now it plays in WMP. I also contacted AtmosFX, the provider of that video as well as Corel, we'll see if they have anything to say about it. In the meantime I will continue checking out Resolve, it does seem like a pretty robust program. Thanks again for your help!

Cheers
Another thing you can try to make it "CFR" is to demux to elementary audio and video streams, then remux it at 29.97 . I think mymp4boxgui or yamb beta 2 can do this .
Or just move on, Resolve is pretty solid and has improved significantly as an "editor" the last few years -
Corel got back to me regarding this, their answer was that the trial version of VideoStudio has some limitations and that if I purchased the full version it would fix everything.....as you can probably guess that raised a few hackles! However, I am a long time user of Coreldraw and up until I hit this problem was pretty sure I would buy it anyway, so I took him at his word and bought it and lo and behold it DID fix the problem.
Thanks for all your help!
