Hello, this is my first post.

I was wondering if someone has evaluated the usefulness of the Sony´s DVDirect VRD-MC5 in correcting the horizontal alignment of analog video signal, as well as some vertical rolling (aka TBC, Time Base Correction) when recording to DVD. (There is no pass-through option)

I also wondered if it could be configured to record the captured analog video to an SD card, instead of a DVD. The 1 hour limit record time in DVD HQ is very restrictive.

Thanks in advance for your time.

According to the manual, this is just a dvd-recorder and card-reader (to transfer the contents of SD etc. cards on to the dvd)

If HQ mode does not give you enough recording time, chose another mode. Two-hour mode (4000 kbps) will give perfectly acceptable quality. Maybe this also has a Three-hour mode (did not check the manual) and with standard dvd-recorders this can also be quite acceptable.

Most dubbing recorders have image stabilisation. Even so, if you are thinking of transferring from VHS the quality may disappoint as is the norm with VHS >> DVD units.
