Is it possible to resize an AVI to a bigger size without losing too much video quality.
If so how can you do it?

The resize filter in virtualdub does a pretty good job but the quality of the result obviously depends vey much on how much of a resize you perform. The more you increase the size the greater the quality loss is going to be no matter how good the resize filter.

If quality is an issue never re-size up, you also re-size the artifacts and blockyness as well as the video. I will only resize down never up.
If the frame size is important and not the video size try using an editor such as Premiere or MSP and use the video over video option to put the original footage (keeping the original frame size) on to a larger frame. That way you maintain the quality of the original but have the advantage of the larger frame.
