Hi,i would like to convert DivX to VCD following the guide,but i'm not sure if all tools goes with Windows XP.
and to be sure,it is really important to install both DivX codec or i could be able to convert DivX to VCD without those codec.

When a program converts from one video format to another, it first has to decode the original in the same way that a player application does, only it stores the decoded info in memory rather than drawing it onto the screen. This decoded info is then passed to the encoding engine to be converted into the desired format. So, to answer your question, you do need the relevant divx codec installed in order to encode into a different format.
AFAIK, all apps and codecs discussed on this site and within these forums work ok under winxp.
