    Hey,

I've been using the MMC 7.1 (latest availible on ATI website as far as i see) but the capture resolutions in there are pretty crappy and don't even reach SVCD specs.

I've seen people here talk about MMV 7.6 -- that availible for the TV-Wonder VE ?

Or can someone recommend another capture program that supports this card well (Both coax & composite input, sterteo sound) and that also captures to VCD / SVCD at high resolutions with no framedrops ?

My specs: Athlon XP 1700+, 512MB DDR, TV-Wonder VE PCI, Geforce 4 MX 440, Abit KG7 raid MB, ATA100 / 7200RPM Quantum Fireball AS Plus 40GB HDD, 16x DVD, 24x Burner.

My system isnt crap so it shouldnt get frame drops, and lots of people tell me ATI's software is crap. I gotta agree. Any recommendations to go with this card ?

  2. MMC 7.5 is a lot better, but VirtualDub & Tmpeg seems to make for higher quality.

As for capturing directly to VCD/SVCD, forget it. Your machines fast enough to capture with MMC7.5 & convert in TMPEG without it being too time consuming and it produces far superior results. Stink's reg tool helps with higher res captures but as I only use VCD I've only done this once or twice.

On a side note did anyone get MMC 7.6 to work with the TV Wonder?

  3. I was able to get 7.6 to work by taking the setup.inx file from 7.5 and moved it into my install folder.

I was also able to use Stinky's reg tool to set up SVCD template. The problem I'm encountering is once I burn using Nero, the video seems a bit jerky so any comment on what I'm doing wrong would be appreciated.

    256 MB (not DDR)
    TV Wonder PCI

  4. Thanks for the tip with MMC 7.6, don't know what's up with your SVCD's though, the few I've done work fine. You are running them through TMPEG's multiplexer first right?

Does your DVD player support SVCD's? if it usually plays SVCD's without a problem then try lowering the bitrate in my template.

If the problem still continues try switching to the X-Rez SVCD settings.

Always make small sample files (about a minute long) and burn them all to one CDR so you don't waste disks figuring out what setup works best for you.... also make sure your doing what svetz's said "run them through TMPGEnc's multiplexer first"

Thanks for the tips, can someone tell me where I can download MMC 7.5 / 7.6 ? All I see on ATI's site is the 7.1 for my card..

  7. Fen or others would have to explain how to install MMC 7.6 for your card. It's on the ATI site but not listed for your card.

You will need a file from MMC 7.5 -- you can find MMC 7.5 on http://www.filemirrors.com/ or maybe someone will email you the file you need and then you can skip downloading MMC 7.5

  8. I was able to get both versions from filemirrors.com.

Thanks for the info, Stinky. I'll try lowering the bitrate. I can't get some of your SVCD templates to work, but I think your SVCD template works so that's what I use. Right now I'm making an uninformed guess that my problem is processing/memory power.

Again, gotta give profs to Stinky. I wouldn't be this far without his stuff.
