Hi, I use the Canopus ADVC-100 converter to convert video from
my Sony TRV-95 Hi8 camera to DV which is then fed to my PC using
an Adaptec firewire card. I use standard NTSC 720x480 DV from
the capturing app.
When I play the avi file on my PC, I notice that the "last few" lines
are consistently distorted. This is no matter which tape I use or whatever
application I use to "capture" the video. I dont see these distorted lines
when I connect my Hi8 camera to my TV. For a typical situation please see http://www.tsantilas.com/sample.jpg
Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Is it the converter,
my Hi8 videocamera, or what. Or is there anything I can do to get rid of these lines after the capture. Oh, my experience in DV etc is only 3 days old.
Thanks

The distortion at the bottom is perfectly normal. What you are seening is the tape head switching point. You should'nt see this on a TV screen.
