It has been awhile since I last posted here.
I have a DVB-T2 set-top box and record over-the-air TV program to a USB drive.
The recorded program is stored in a folder with 2 .DVR and 1 .TS files.
I have the latest VLC player installed and it couldn't read the .TS files.

Is there any software that can read and convert it to DVD ?

    Many thanks.

Can you post the make/spec of the DVB-T2 set-top box because some of them even the cheap ones encrypt the ts files.

I don't have it with me. If the TS files are encrypted, is there a chance to decrypt it ?
If no then I have to move on get a set top that does not encrypt.

    Many thanks.

Wait a minute. I have this USB HDMI capture adapter and output to DVD format. This may work.

Post a mediainfo report of one of the files. In Australia the local company Beyonwiz, made in South Korea make a good PVR and files are not encrypted as Topfield and Humax the same. Most of the "name" units like LG and Samsung etc do encrypt.
SONY 75" Full array 200Hz LED TV, Yamaha A1070 amp, Zidoo UHD3000, BeyonWiz PVR V2 (Enigma2 clone), Chromecast, Windows 11 Professional, QNAP NAS TS851

Maybe also post a mediainfo (text mode) report of the .ts file.

I guess that vital info is in the .dvr files so makes the .ts file only readable by the set-top box.

    But do try tsdoctor

Then the file is probably encrypted. Or it's some proprietary container, not an MPEG Transport Stream.

Indeed. The recorded media can't be played on another set of the same model. It has to be played on the same set top box that recorded it.
Just get rid of it and buy another model that does not encrypt at one third the cost. Piece of shit!

Can you be more specific. I don't understand what you want me to do. The m3u8 link that I provided is what I got a website and I was just trying to see if VLC can play it.

  14. The video you downloaded was probably a placeholder for the real video. And look at the bitrate: 79 Kb/s. A black video is about you can get with the kind of bitrate. In short, you downloaded the wrong file. What's the URL of the web page from which you got the mp4 link?
