    [I’m in NTSC-land]

I have a few projects that are miniDV and Super 8. I’ve been deinterlacing and upscaling miniDV to 720p 59.94fps via QTGMC (thanks to jagabo). Some of the S8 was shot at 18, some at 24fps. I’m thinking about rescanning the Super 8 at either 2 or 4K, but then was wondering how the two (or three) different frame rates will work together? At least they all will be Progressive.

Do I drop the S8 23.94fps in the 59.94 timeline, or vice-versa? Will 18fps work in a 59.94 timeline? I’ve read little bit about some sort of TimeWarp trick?

  2. You can either interpolate to 59.94fps or you can duplicate frames to bring them up to 59.94fps, up to you. Duplication will certainly be easier and will be artifact free:

    ChangeFPS(59.94)

Does interpolate involve pulldown of any sort?

  4. No, it involves creating 'in-between' frames using the existing frames on both sides.

There's no pulldown except for MPEG-2. Is that your desired output? Not DVD, of course, as 59.94fps isn't allowed for DVD.

Delivery will be BD since the miniDV footage is 720p 59.94.

  6. Then make the others 59.94fps as well.
