I Have had success capturing video from my DV camera through firewire and then burning it to DVD. However, I have no idea if I’m replicating the exact quality level.
I want to ensure that I am capturing the video and burning the video at the same quality and resolution of the original recording that is on the DV tape?
What are the steps that I need to take to ensure this.
What settings to I need to be sure I adjust when capturing video?
Like wise what setting would I need to adjust when burning the video?
Should I capture using a program then always convert the resulting file using tmpgenc?

If you capture your digital camcorder via Firewire, then you get the best quality possible in this combination.
Burning to DVD: now the encoding software comes into play. The quality of your DVD depends on:
1) the software encoder
2) the bitrate you encode with
3) CBR, VBR, etc...
The resolution is already at 720x480 (NTSC) and that does not change.ktnwin - PATIENCE -
