  1. I Have had success capturing video from my DV camera through firewire and then burning it to DVD. However, I have no idea if I’m replicating the exact quality level.
    I want to ensure that I am capturing the video and burning the video at the same quality and resolution of the original recording that is on the DV tape?

    What are the steps that I need to take to ensure this.
    What settings to I need to be sure I adjust when capturing video?
    Like wise what setting would I need to adjust when burning the video?

    Should I capture using a program then always convert the resulting file using tmpgenc?

  2. If you capture your digital camcorder via Firewire, then you get the best quality possible in this combination.
    Burning to DVD: now the encoding software comes into play. The quality of your DVD depends on:
    1) the software encoder
    2) the bitrate you encode with
    3) CBR, VBR, etc...
    The resolution is already at 720x480 (NTSC) and that does not change.

    whats the highest bit rate i should use?
