  1. I own the latest version of TMPGENC-Plus, and want to use it to convert a VERY good quality divx to SVCD. I understand the basics of converting to VCD, and I attempted to convert. However, I ended up with a file that was like 3 GB in size, and that was less than a third of the movie.

So my question is - what is the lowest bitrate you can use and still get very good quality? Should I invest in a DVD burner so I can copy files like this and still keep them looking good?

    Thanks.

  2. What template did you use ?

Personally, myself, I would not invest in a dvd burner RIGHT NOW.
The reason being is that to get the same dvd quality, you need a dvd-r above 4.6 gigs. And these are not available YET.

I'm gonna waiting till the duel layer DVD-R burners/disk come out before I invest in a dvd burner. these will have double the capacity then the ones out now.

    Just hold tight till then..bro

  3. try the SVCD ntscFilm template.

you can set the audio bitrate lower--- 192 or even 128 works ok

use a maximum bitrate of 1900-2100 to get 45-55 min on a CD.

I tend to use vbd_cq quality 77 bitrate 1950-- but I usually work with
    DVD rips.
