  1. I've got a group of rar files that I'm missing some files from. Does anyone know of any way to unrar the incomplete files. There are no pars or fills for these files. I read somewhere that you can copy the partial mpg out of the unrared file folder when the program pauses to tell you that it needs the next missing file. This actually works but the mpg is always the same exact mpg no matter what file I try to unrar. Any ideas?

  2. not a complete answer ...but if you right click and un-rar here ...then watch untill it askes for the file you haven't got ...re-do this time pausing just before it asks you for the file ...then open the folder and copy what it has extracted. Paste in to another folder and watch the film (might have to sometimes rename the extenion) this will let you see up to the missing part.
    hope it helps some

Yeah, but it is still a good question that likely keeps coming up for many people. One answer is: Yes, I do this with some regularity, using 7-Zip to do the Un-Rar. It will go ahead and extract whatever is extractable from the archive. That may be -- for example -- part of a video, which can then be checked with VLC. Sometimes pieces of the original RAR archive are no longer available, in which case you're basically hosed. But at least you may be able to get some idea of what was there.

I'm not sure if other de-archivers might also be able to do this, but I think it's a possibility.

When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.

This is one of those things I like about your site Baldrick. Here is a good example for all of showing a real good gentle sense of humor when dealing with the innocent. Although I fully appreciate the need to not pollute current topics too many boards are quick to jump in and fry a new guy for resurrecting old threads like that.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.
