    Greetings
    Which is the best way to cut a middle section from a video (without converting it)?
    I'm using TMPGenc Authoring Works 6 (on Windows 10 Pro) but it saves output as a DVD thus losing quality.

    this is well known but VirtualDub doesn't read mkv

    VirtualDub2 can both import and export MKV files but it isn't a smart cutter. (A smart cutter can cut on any frame but only re-encodes incomplete GOPs.)

    TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 5 is TMPGEnc's smart cutter.

    Yes, as usuall_quiet says, you have to use the correct version of VD.
