I’m in the process of attempting to back up some old DVCAM and MiniDV tapes, using Final Cut Pro on a Mac. I’m playing the tapes on a DSR-11, via Firewire. Tapes recorded in DVCAM mode capture well, playing back both within FCP on the timeline, as well as with QuickTime and VLC. However, the same can’t be said for MiniDV tapes, recorded in regular DV SP mode. With those, the file begins with the audio and video in sync with one another, but begins to slowly drift. By the 20 minute mark, it’s out of sync by about a second, by 40 minutes it’s 2 seconds off, etc. Is there something simple I might be missing in the capture process that could solve this issue?
